"Autumn Romance: Stories and Portraits of Love after 50" wins Gold Medal

I am very happy and proud to announce that on Earth Day, April 21, 2010 "Autumn Romance: Stories and Portraits of Love After 50" was awarded the Living Now Book Awards Gold Medal by Independent Publisher in the Relationship/Marriage category. The award is designed to honor the year’s best new books that help readers attain healthier, more fulfilling and productive lives.

The judges noted the book’s beauty; that is due in large measure to its designer, Skidmutro Creative + Layout. My vision was honored and brought to new heights by the book’s design.

The judges also commended the photographs in "Autumn Romance." This was the groundbreaking part: nowhere before have photos of OLDER couples in love been shown. Sixteen photographers from all over the U.S. took those photos. I won't name them all here--at the back of the book there's a two-page color spread of the photographers' pictures and comments. But I want to mention the book's photo editor, Rodney Atienza who not only edited every image in the book but also shot a great many of the couples. He did an amazing job.

The Living Now judges say: “Our collective consciousness was raised [prior to the first Earth Day] to let us imagine a better world…That is what great books do—they help us imagine change.”

I am so happy that "Autumn Romance" is considered a book that will bring about positive change, and excited that it will.
